This is just a wonderful poem and it was my mother’s favourite and it was very apposite for my mother!
I am beginning with it as I have said I wanted to do audio versions of my essays for paying subscribers. So, I am mostly testing that I can use this function of audible but also testing my own speech. Following my illness, I have a slight slur and a decided lisp and it is effortful to override these enough to speak with clarity. (This is one of the reasons I have only been writing) However, it is getting easier and I can do it for longer so I am hopeful of resuming my normal speech soon.
Anyway, enjoy this short humorous poem written in 1961 which I am sure many of you already know. I am reading it from the book above which is illustrated by Pythia Ashton-Jewell.
